Condamine River Road Ladies Drive
After our first club meeting of the year, it was off for a fun Ladies Drive along Condamine River Road. Louise was leading the pack of 11 cars along the 14 crossings, with Declan in one of the cars in his sexy dress (ladies drive = men who drive need to wear a dress – all in good jest!) which was all going smoothly, until I noticed a funny sound from the car.
After a brief discussion with Dave (he said “I can’t hear anything”), I pulled over to find a flat tyre. Oh yay. Thankfully, I was able to sit out the changing tyre thing due to a broken finger, and left Dave and the guys to it. Once it was all sorted, off we went again. Only to have Anthony (one of the club’s visitors, and fellow Everest owner) radio through that his car was making a strange noise and needed to also pull over. Brilliant mechanical minds on this trip made the fix happen pretty quickly – a stone was caught up in his brakes making a terrible screeching sound, which would make any sane person shudder.
We got underway again as soon as possible to regroup with the others ahead who were patiently waiting for the rest of us to get to our lunch spot at Browns Falls Park. Our little sub-group had the BBQ trailer and the food. 🙂 After a wonderful lunch put on by the club (thanks all!!) some of us continued to Queen Mary Falls and walked to the bottom of the waterfall. A bit of rock hopping and cooling off our feet in the lovely water before walking back up and observing the water dragons in the area. There was a fantastic turnout and big thanks to the club for lunch, and the members and visitors for making this such a fun day out. Special thanks to Kyle & Anthony for their photo contributions – great work guys! – Nancy E (Feb 2019)
